C-Tech Solutions is celebrating its 10th anniversary with a six-figure cash injection from UKSE.

The Guisborough-based cabling company began in 2013 as the brainchild of Managing Director Mike Empson and his former business partner, Simon Harper. Fast forward to 2023, and C-Tech Solutions is going from strength to strength.

The UKSE investment will support the business’ plans for growth over the next 10 years and beyond.

C-Tech Solutions employs 15 staff and is further supported by sub-contractors. Now, Mike is looking ahead to the next 10 years supported by loyal customers and a wealth of investment interest. The company designs, implements, and maintains commercial cabling systems across the UK and into Europe.

From humble beginnings as a small cabling outfit, the firm now offers end-to-end service for commercial cabling needs, including design, installation and maintenance. He said: “We started 10 years ago and just grew from there and are now well established within the Ministry of Defence (MOD) and the Ministry of Justice (MOJ). But we also work with sectors like food and beverage, hospitality, construction, and education.”

“The UKSE investment has enabled us to proceed with a buyout of company shares from a director, keeping them in-house, and put a growth plan in place that will take C-Tech on to the next stage.”

UKSE hailed C-Tech as an example of a North-East firm “creating valuable jobs and strengthening the regional economy despite the recent challenges.”

Over the past decade they have seized a broad stretch of commercial opportunities. Notable achievements include upgrading Epos systems for a well-known high street retailer in circa 400 stores, being one of the key contractors in delivering cabling infrastructure for Stockton-on-Tees and Darlington Borough Councils and installing a myriad of systems to ensure the safety and efficiency of residents of a care home.

“If I had to put it down to one great achievement it has to be the largest MOD contract we’ve secured to date, which was around half a million pounds,” Mike said.

“As a company there’s a lot of variety. We started out just doing cabling but now we do anything from installing CCTV to WIFI. Some clients want an end-to-end solution. They want a service that’s a one stop shop for all their needs.”

Another of his greatest achievements is going from a two-man business to expanding the payroll to include a fleet of staff members. And Mike and his team intend to get more staff on board.

He said: “We have a really great team of staff. We are always looking for more engineers and are currently hiring.”
